Subject: “Reduce for Good Use” During Move-Out
Dear Students,
As we wrap up classes and pack up our things for the year, we would like to share a few ways to support our fellow Lions and the surrounding community, while considering our impact on the environment. Through an initiative we are calling, “Reduce for Good Use”, we present you with two opportunities to donate food, clothing, hygiene products, books, e-waste, and furniture, in place of discarding these items.
For All Students (May 1st to 12th):
We will be collecting non-perishable food products, gently used clothing, unused hygiene products, and books on campus. Consider dropping off these items on Friday, May 12th from 10am – 2pm in Lot 6 (across from Phelps and Hausdoerffer). We will have a photo station, Jersey Mike’s subs, along with a number of giveaways! Please see the attached graphics for more information. Between Monday, May 1st to Friday, May 12th, these items can also be dropped off in donation boxes found in Centennial, Cromwell, Decker, Eickhoff, Hausdoerffer, New Residence, Phelps, and Travers & Wolfe Halls. These items will be donated to The Shop, English Department (annual book fair), and local nonprofits.
For Off-Campus Students in Ewing (May 24th to 26th):
For the second consecutive year, we are partnering with HomeFront, a local homelessness prevention agency, to collect lightly used furniture that will be donated to families in need of temporary and permanent housing. For students residing off-campus in Ewing Township, HomeFront is willing to pick-up select mattresses, bed frames, loveseats, dressers, and more. Please see the attached flyer for specifications on what they will accept and how to sign up by May 21st for a pick-up between May 24th to May 26th. As you move out, help families move in!
As a reminder to our off-campus students, Ewing Township allows only three bulk items to be left out on your regular trash collection day. Instead of leaving too much at the curb, please consider if HomeFront would be able to reuse it instead!
We would like to thank Residence Life & Education and the Center for Community Engagement for their ongoing support! Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions, and thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
